Hallyu Effect: Korean Eoljjang (얼짱) Tutuorial {Female 얼짱}

The term 얼짱, or Eoljjang is a Korean term for "best face." Eoljjang, started out as a competition amoung young korean girls (and later boys) to win a title of "eoljjang." Recently, it had turned into a subculture and style choice in mainly Korea, but has spread to Japan and some in China and eoljjang 's can become internet celebrities from posting pictures of themselves online dressed in eoljjang style.

Eoljjang's also all share similar features.

The eyes are the main focus of any Eoljjang look.

For a female eoljjang, the eyes are very important. For a true eoljjang look, you want to make your eyes look big and bright.

This type of look is simple to achieve.

First, thinly line your eyes with black or brown eyeliner on the upper and lower eyelids.

Eyeshadow isnt normally used in an eoljjang look, but if you want to use eyeshadow, go ahead! :)

Then you want to add a layer of mascarra on your upper and lower eyelashes. To make your eyes look even bigger, and more doll-like, hold your mascarra brush straight up and down, and apply to your lashes side to side to spread out your lower lashes.

I suggest applying a small amount of white eyeshadow or white eyeliner on the inner corners of your eyes to make them look brighter :)

Many Eoljjang girls also wear circle lenses to make their pupils look bigger.

Flawless and Pale looking Skin

Another important feature of an eoljjang is flawless looking and pale skin. This is usually done with photoshop before an eoljjang posts a picture. However, you can still achieve this kind of look with out photoshop if you follow the right steps! ^.^

You will have to apply various products in order to get this type of look. I suggest, applying toner to your face a few minutes before makeup application. Then, apply makeup primer and BB Cream or foundation, (normally I suggest getting a BB cream that matches your skintone, however, for this type of look I suggest a foundation that is about 1 shade lighter, but make sure it still looks natural.) Then apply highlighter to your T-zone and cheekbones. Then set you makeup with powder and apply your eye makeup.

I suggest using this on your T-zone and cheekbones to highlight key features of your face.

Sculpting your face with powder is also suggested to make your face look smaller, however some skip this step and make their face smaller with photoshop :)

You also want to make sure that your powder matches your foundation, otherwise your look will not be natural.

To finish off your look, I suggest using a light layer of lip gloss to enhance your look. I highly recommend Lioele Blooming Glosses, they are of great quality and come in a variety of pretty colors. For an eoljjang look, I suggest a light pink or peachy color :)

**If you dont highlight your cheeks, I suggest adding a light pink or peach colored blush to your cheeks to enhance your look**
